Despite the initial flurry of users to Bing (and Yahoo) after release, latest resluts from Experien Hitwise show that Google continues to win the fight in the search arena.
Fresh from release, Experian® Hitwise® announced today that Google accounted for 71.08 percent of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending Oct. 3, 2009. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask.com received 16.38 percent, 8.96 percent and 2.56 percent, respectively. The remaining 52 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.04 percent of U.S. searches.
This data emphasises the importance of ensuring that search optimisation is build into the web design and web development process (something we do here as standard), and cost effective Google PPC Marketing and demonstrates that Google continues to be the primary way Internet users navigate to key industry categories. Comparing September 2009 with September 2008, Automotive, Business and Finance, Entertainment, News and Media, Online Video and Sports categories showed double-digit increases in their share of traffic coming directly from search engines.
It of course remains to be seen what impact Yahoo’s multi-million dollar brand campaign will have but at present Google remains king of the hill
